Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi made a speech at a high-level meeting of Islamic cooperation organisations to commemorate the birth of the Islamic Prophet (Pbuh).
Here is the full text of Araghchi’s speech at the OIC conference in New York:
In the name of God, the most elegant and most merciful
Excellence, prominent representatives, brothers and sisters,
May God give you peace, mercy and blessings
It is an honor to attend this auspicious memorial and again declare my firm commitment to the timeless message of the Islamic prophet (Pbuh).
A prophet whose life and character are filled with compassion and kindness. He helped the poor, protected orphans, restored human dignity, and always rejected oppression and injustice. Today, following his example, it means to stand up against oppression, defend the truth, and support the justice, equality and dignity of all.
This initiative commemorating this anniversary within the framework of an organisation of Islamic cooperation is not merely a memorial, but a heartfelt call for action.
This call invites the global community to take a deeper look at the enduring values embodied in the prolific life of the Prophet. Humanitarian partnerships that transcend boundaries and religions and promote values and mutual respect and understanding that may inspire inclusive cultural and educational cooperation.
The same value we desperately need today to create a more friendly relationship between the nations and people of our turbulent world.
Excellence,
In this context, we will continue to live out the prophet’s call to protect the oppressed. Today, in Gaza, the Zionist regime is massacring tens of thousands of innocent women, men and children, turning the entire city into a mountain of tiled rubs.
To commit such crimes against humanity is a clear insult to justice and the universal values of humanity, and an attack on the legacy of the prophet who said, “Killing an innocent person is like killing all of humanity.”
This doctrine calls on the international community to protect human dignity, take immediate action to stand on humanity, and hold criminals accountable for their wilderness.
The message of the Islamic Prophet (pbuh) is for all humanity, as it deals with our common suffering. His God’s message transcends time and space, emphasizing that all humans deserve dignity and respect, regardless of race, color or ethnicity.
His call for resistance to justice and oppression continues to inspire nations and people around the world, reminding us of our responsibility to fully adhere to his message.
In a world filled with division and distrust, we need to remember another lesson from the life of the Prophet: the art of respectful dialogue. He taught us to build trust and understanding beyond religion and civilization, showing us that diversity is a sign of God’s creation.
Celebrating the 1,500th anniversary of the birth of the Prophet is not only a respect for the past, but also a responsible expression of the future. If the prophet’s legacy is to raise oppression, our mission must be to eradicate poverty, empower those in vulnerable circumstances, and to protect the environment God has entrusted to us for future generations.
Only then can we say we are walking his path.
Thank you for your attention.
