Tehran – Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Armenian Mehdi Sobani of Armenia, expressed her gratitude to the famous Iranian-Armenian musician and conductor Loris Cekna festival for the success of the “Rostam and Sorab” opera in Yerevan.
The opera was based on the tale of Shahname by the famous Iranian poet Feldousi and was composed by the Tsekna Festival and took place at the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Yerevan’s opera and ballet in front of Armenian and Iranian officials, cultural and artistic figures and enthusiasts.
The Gala concert was first performed on March 22nd, and a week later they spent three nights from March 31st to April 2nd.
In his speech, Sobani described the performance of “Rostam and Sorab” in Yerevan as a historical event in Iran-Armenia’s cultural relations and expressed gratitude to Tjeknavorian for his outstanding lifelong contribution to culture and art.
The Iranian ambassador described Tjeknavarian as a cultural bridge between Iran and other countries and countries around the world.
The opera was performed for the audience through a joint collaboration between the Armenian National Opera in Yerevan and the Iranian Embassy.
The premiere of Tjeknavarian’s two-act opera “Rostam and Sohrab” was attended by Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, and Deputy Ministers Daniel Daniyan and Artur Martirosyan.
The Minister also congratulated them on meeting with Maestro Loris Ti Nawarians and performance artists and premiered them.
Speaking about his work, Tjeknavorian states: “I’ve been in love with the stories of Rostam and Sorab since I was a child. I’ve always wanted to write opera, but I was lacking in strength.
“I wrote eight versions. When I began writing in Persian, I felt that I needed to present it to a great master. Then, when I met him, when I met him, he heard some excerpts from the opera and suggested that I finish Strasb to stay in Strasbourg. He was covered with “Go and write the opera.” That’s amazing. ” he added.
“It was a challenging opera. I’ve performed concert versions several times in Vienna, the UK, Mexico and Armenia, and this has never been done before.
Tjeknavorian uses Iranian folk tales and traditional music in his operas. “From an early age I have loved the story of Shakhname, the Iranian poet Abolkasem Feldoushi. Shakhname is not just a book. It is the national history of Iran, and all Iranian people know the legends of Rostam and Sorab.”
He believes that Feldoush (940-1020) is the world’s biggest poet and that anything found in the works of William Shakespeare (1564-1616) also exists in Feldoush’s works.
Born in Borgeld, Lorestan, the Loris Chen Festival (87) is one of the most famous cultural figures in Armenia and Iran. As one of the leading conductors of his generation, he leads international orchestras around the world and has been awarded many times at various musical events.
As a composer, Tjeknavarian has written music for six operas, five symphonies, choral works, Chamber Music Hall, ballet music, piano and vocal works, piano, violin, guitar, cello, Pipa concerts, documentaries and feature films.
His compositions have been performed by major orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Halle Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra, Helsinki, the American Symphony Orchestra in New York, the Tehran Symphony Orchestra, the Johannesburg Symphony Symphony Orchestra, the High Fan Orchestra, the Johannesburg Orchestra, the Medie Orchestra, Mayfer Orchestra, and the Mayfer Orchestra. A master percussionist, Strasbourg percussion ensemble and an English chamber orchestra.
From 2009 to the present, Tjeknavarian has spent his time writing and writing short stories as well as composing them. Among his recent works are the opera “Zahak” (scripted based on Feldousi’s Shafname) and “Maurana and Shams et Tabriz” (scripted based on Rumi’s poem), and the indoor opera “The Last Time of Sadegu Hedayat.”
Other works include the second concerto for the violin and chamber orchestra, a solo piano piece entitled “1915”, two major symphonic suites, “King Cyrus”, “King Cyrus” about the king of ancient Persia, and “Takti” dedicated to famous Iranian wrestlers.
