Hundreds of people protested Sunday evening in California against the current attack and deportation of immigrants without a valid residence permit.
The mood was sour when some demonstrators destroyed property, attacked and caused other damage, the station reported.
To disband the demonstrations, authorities have declared the protest a “illegal rally.”
Nevertheless, some people remained and later damaged buildings and police cars on other streets. Another group refused to variance. This led to an arrest. Two officers were injured, according to the report. The firearm was also seized.
In Los Angeles, approximately 550km south of National Guard soldiers deployed along with police, authorities imposed a ban on gatherings in the city centre given the escalating situation.
Police also announced that 56 people had been arrested around the protest over the weekend.
