In a statement, the Army 6th Infantry Division stationed in Elfasher said the RSF launched “indiscriminate, scattered artillery fire” on Thursday, targeting densely populated areas in the city.
The bombing killed 35 people, including women, children and elderly people, leaving another 40 people seriously injured, leaving them. The victim was transferred to a local hospital for treatment.
The Army also reported that it had repelled “failed RSF ground assaults” in the city’s northeastern suburbs.
The government forces killed 80 RSF fighter jets, destroyed 10 armed vehicles, and caused great losses, according to the statement.
The RSF has not issued any comments regarding the military report.
Elfasher has seen a fatal clash between the Sudanese army and the RSF since May 2024 despite international warnings about the risks of fighting in cities that serve as a hub for humanitarian operations in all five Darfur provinces.
Earlier this week, the RSF allegedly seized control of Elfasher’s Zamzam refugee camp after a clash with the Army. At least 400 civilians were killed and nearly 400,000 people were evacuated due to the battle, according to UN figures.
Since April 15, 2023, RSF has been fighting the Sudanese army and has taken control of the country, killing thousands and becoming one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
More than 20,000 people have been killed and 15 million have been displaced so far, according to the United Nations and local governments. However, a study from American academics estimates that the death toll is around 130,000.
In recent weeks, the RSF has lost a large territory to government forces throughout Sudan.
