The assailants set fire to the house, attacked the church, and witnesses killed civilians in what they called the massacre. Among the victims was Pastor Jock Brutus, 86, who was reportedly beheaded by an attacker at Maranata Church.
“At least 50 bodies have been found. It is almost impossible to reach the genocide site as the gang still holds control. 14 bodies have been beheaded and burned,” an eyewitness told Spanish EFE news agency.
The first claims suggest that the gang is believed to be operated under the name “Self-Defense Coalition,” the Anadoru Agency reported.
Haiti is suffering from a growing crisis along with its capital, Port-au-Prince, along with its capital, Port-au-Prince, which is primarily under gang control and food insecurity.
More than 5,600 people died in gang violence in Haiti in 2024, according to UN figures.
