Australian Prime Minister Albanese said Thursday it was only a matter of time before Canberra was aware of the Palestinian state.
Australia has taken another step towards perception of Palestinians and is committed to doing so after Britain signaled its own intentions overnight, Reuters reported.
In a joint statement with 14 countries, including several who already recognize the Palestinian state, Australia welcomed a series of commitments by Palestinian authorities that could pave the way for what Anthony Albanese called “a very important step forward.”
In a statement, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that his country has decided to recognize Palestine at the upcoming UN General Assembly meeting, scheduled to be held in September next year.
