The Tehran-a Solo exhibition featuring works from various periods of Aydin Agdashru, including paintings, sculptures and other works, is currently on display at B Gallery in Tehran 10 years later.
Curated by Takin Aghdashloo, this exhibition presents 17 of Aghdashloo’s works. However, the highlight of the exhibition was three sculptures by the artist, which were first shown to the public, Mehr reported.
The sculpture collection includes three bronze works entitled “Snow”, “Apocalypse” and “Identity”, each drawing from Aghdashloo’s famous visual world.
In this collection, he reinterprets motifs familiar from paintings. These sculptures were created in collaboration with Art Mart and the Aghdashloo Foundation.
The presented sculptures offer his complex visual language in new forms, in line with Aghdashloo’s unique postmodern perspective. Through these works, he broadens his ideas about rationality, identity, and human dignity, adding a new dimension to his artistic philosophy.
Aydin Agdashlu is one of the most well-known modern and contemporary artists of Iran, renowned for his precise and stunning painting skills. His extensive work reflects the profound influence from Iran’s political and cultural landscape, while engaging in global artistic and philosophical discourse.
His art draws inspiration from a wide range of classical sources, ranging from European Renaissance masterpieces to Persian miniature paintings and Islamic ceramics. Through these influences, Aghdashloo presents critical reflections on topics such as tyranny, cultural disruption, and the destruction of human dignity and beauty.
The Aghdashloo’s Artworks exhibition coincides with the announcement of his first international monograph, published by Italian publishing company Skira.
Iranian painter, graphic artist, writer and film critic Aydin Agdaschloo (84), known for his portraits, depicts classic Italian and Persian images.
The book offers a comprehensive review of Aghdashloo’s ongoing artwork over 60 years. The 304-page monograph edited by Marco Menguzzo and Takin Aghdashloo is published in English and includes essays by David Anfam, Michel Dewilde, Marco Meneguzzo and Zahra Faridani.
It also features a collection of 12 previous essays on Agdashru, written by well-known figures such as Abbas Kiarostami, Darish Sheigan, and Balam Beisai.
Aydin Aghdashloo has held few solo exhibitions throughout his career. His final exhibition took place in 2014, and now, 10 years later, his work is back in the open.
The exhibition will be open to visitors on April 10th at the B Gallery at the intersection of Agoraville, No. 26, East Tobaco Riare, Ajdaniye and Agudacier.
