TEHRAN – The dome of Imamzadekasem, which overcomes a sacred shrine from 600 years ago in Babor, northern Mazandaran, said on Friday, the Minister of Cultural Heritage of Raza Salehi Amiri.
Speaking about the bystanders of his visit to the shrine, the Minister reported that the Archaeological Institute was tasked with preparing plans for renovations to the monument, the IRNA reported.
He explained that Governor Babor had pursued the renovation of the dome of Imamzadekasem as one of the city’s historic monuments.
He said that the renovation of Imamzadekasem Shrine should be done technically by skilled cultural heritage experts, adding that once a plan for renovation of the monument has been prepared, the necessary credit will be assigned.
The Minister continued that the renovation of the historic monument is one of the government’s strategic policies in which all the capabilities available to achieve this goal are used.
He detailed that this brick-made section of dome has been destroyed, revealing water penetration into the body of the dome.
The delay in renovation of this monument has permeated the humidity within the dome, leading to the cultivation of various plants on the dome, he warned. As a result, many MirrorWorks and tiles have been separated and collapsed, he added.
This historical structure of Babor city dates back to the 9th century AH. Here, it is the place where descendants of Imam Musa Kazem (AS) are placed for rest, and is also known as Astane Spirit. The structure features a pyramidal dome decorated with bricks at the bottom. The structure features two ancient wooden breasts, dated at 888 AH.
The memorial was listed on the National Heritage List of No. 432. It is considered one of the oldest monuments in Babor in the Astanesar district.
