Officials at the National Revenue Commission’s Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) said the discovery was made after opening a locker that was seized in September.
“We opened the locker following a court order and found about 9.7 kilograms of the former prime minister’s gold,” a senior CIC official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
The shipment included gold coins, bars, and jewelry.
Investigators say Hasina failed to deposit some of the gifts she received during her tenure in the state treasury, known as toshakana, as required by law.
The National Board of Revenue is also investigating allegations of tax evasion and whether Hasina declared the money she recovered in her tax returns.
Bangladesh has been in political turmoil since the end of Hasina’s government, with violence disrupting elections scheduled for February 2026.
Earlier this month, the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced Hasina to death for her deadly crackdown on a student-led uprising.
The United Nations said up to 1,400 people were killed in the crackdown as Hasina tried to cling to power.
