TEHRAN – Since winning the November presidential election, Donald Trump has been hot and cold in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
On the day of President Joe Biden’s administration, Trump had pressured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas to reach a ceasefire.
Two weeks before his inauguration on January 20, Trump warned that if Hamas fails to release the prisoners of war held in Gaza before the ceremony, “all hell will break out in the Middle East.”
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect on January 19th, with Trump claiming credit for the ceasefire contract.
However, on Monday he cancelled the ceasefire with Hamas in Israel, calling for “break all hell” if the resistance group doesn’t return the prisoners by noon on Saturday.
“I’m worried if all the hostages won’t be returned at 12am on Saturday. I think that’s the right time. Cancel and all bets will be turned off and hell breaks out,” he said.
President Donald Trump said that if Hamas doesn’t release all prisoners to reporters in the oval office when he is blessed on Saturday, the January ceasefire should be cancelled, Trump said added to. And if they are not returned – all of them are not drip or monotonous, not 2 and 3 and 4 and 2. Saturday at 12pm and then I think everything, all hell will break out. ”
Trump’s warning came after Hamas accused Israel of threatening to delay the release of more prisoners of war on Saturday “until further notice.”
“These violations include delaying the return of evacuees to shelters in various parts of the Gaza Strip, targeting them with artillery and fire in various parts of the Gaza Strip, and invading all agreed forms of relief material. “The resistance, meanwhile, fulfilled all of its obligations,” spokesman Abu Obeida, spokesman
Qassam Brigades wrote to X.
Hamas has released 21 prisoners of war since the first phase of the ceasefire contract came into effect in January. In exchange, more than 700 Palestinians have walked freely from Israeli prisons.
A three-phase ceasefire is expected to lead to the release of all prisoners and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. Ultimately, it should pave the way for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which was ravaged during Israel’s Gaza War.
Israel began its war with Gaza on October 7, 2023, shortly after Hamas conducted a surprising military operation in southern Israel. Over 1,100 people died during Hamas’ surgery, and about 250 were taken prisoner. Hamas released more than 100 prisoners of war in November 2023 following a weekly ceasefire agreement.
In light of the expected release of additional prisoners, Trump surprised the world with his controversial remarks at a meeting with Netanyahu at the White House earlier this month.
He raised the idea for the US to take control of the Gaza Strip, demanding that the Palestinians leave their territory.
“The US will take over the Gaza Strip and we will work with it,” Trump told the joint press conference on February 4th with the Israeli Prime Minister.
He had also proposed the option of sending American troops to Gaza to implement his plans. However, he later said that such action was not necessary.
Over the weekend, Trump doubled his suggestion to depopulate Gaza.
“I think it’s a big mistake to allow Palestinians, or people living in Gaza, to return at yet another time. I don’t want Hamas to come back. And consider it a big real estate site. Please, and the US is about to own it, and we slowly – very slowly, we are not in a hurry – develop it. He said on Sunday.
Trump, who helped mediate the January ceasefire between Egypt and Jordan, is now urging Israel to withdraw the deal.
Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who had been evacuated internally since the ceasefire was implemented have returned to their homes, particularly north of the enclave.
Hamas also shows military power and pours cold water on Israel’s claims to dismantle the movement’s capabilities during the war of more than 15 months with Gaza.
Netanyahu repeatedly vowed to continue the Gaza War until Hamas was eliminated and the release of prisoners of war. However, he was unable to fulfill his military objectives and ultimately signed a ceasefire.
Trump’s call for Israel to be removed from the ceasefire is in line with his plan to forcefully replace Palestinians and ethnically cleanse Gaza.
Trump’s ultimatum to release prisoners would hold the feet of the resistance fighter on fire in a desperate attempt to develop his plan. He can only achieve his goal through threats if the pig is able to fly.
