Celso Amorim, the Brazilian president’s chief advisor on international affairs, says his country supports Iran’s right to harness peaceful nuclear energy and enrichment.
Amorim and Ali Akbar Ahmadian, secretaries of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), met on the sidelines of the 13th International Conference of Representatives on Moscow’s security issues later Wednesday.
Both sides emphasized the importance of ongoing consultations between independent countries to combat unilateral nationalism.
Amorim has expressed Brazil’s support for Iran’s right to harness peaceful nuclear energy and enrichment.
On his part, the Ahmadian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to maintain nuclear independence, including fuel cycles and enrichment capabilities, adding that Tehran will not compromise on these issues while accepting dialogue.
He also condemned the crimes committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza and argued that the world should not remain silent in the face of Gaza’s humanitarian catastrophe. He emphasized the importance of interstate unity in combating those responsible for these atrocities.
Both sides emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral trade and scientific exchanges.
