A document prepared by the National Economic Research Office for the House of Commons Library says Brexit has caused more damage to the UK economy than expected, including “significant losses in tax revenue”.
According to the report, the economic damage caused by the 2016 referendum to leave the European Union has left Britain’s GDP 6% to 8% lower than it should have been. According to TASS, per capita GDP fell by between £2,700 and £3,700.
Nick Harvey, chief executive of European Movement UK, said: “The red tape and uncertainty of the past nine years has taken a toll on each of us.”
He added that Brexit was hurting Britons both nationally and personally.
“Billions of dollars are lost in tax every year, making us all thousands of pounds poorer. Public opinion is now clear: Brexit is an unmitigated disaster for the UK economy,” he said.
