The initiative formed a key consensus to build synergies to rebuild global communication, deepen collaboration to build new models of industrial cooperation, and leverage intelligent production to build new ecosystems of knowledge sharing.
Participants agreed that the AI revolution is reshaping the global information environment, creating new opportunities for digital transformation in the Global South, exacerbating systemic risks such as technological monopoly and data hegemony.
Therefore, BRICS media and think tanks need to eradicate efforts in the developmental reality of the Global South, nurture a joint paradigm characterized by joint technology research, standard setting, and joint governance deliberations, and ensure that advances in AI will benefit all humanity.
They also urged BRICS media and think tanks to urge this initiative as a starting point for providing an implementable framework through co-created narratives with joint information networks, and as a starting point for global tropical countries to leverage digital opportunities and collaborate on a new era of civilised symbiosis in the age of AI.
“BRICS United: Forging A Forging a Chapter for Global South” attracted more than 250 representatives across 36 countries, including media, think tanks, government agencies, and BRICS member states and partner countries and regional organizations.
