Tehran – Rial 4.3 billion ($4.7 million) credits, 3.7 billion ($4.1 million) allocated by the Ministry of Petroleum for Heritage in Fars, have been allocated to Sassanido era sites.
According to Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage Sadek Zare, the budget has been allocated to several projects, some of which have been implemented, while the rest is in the bidding and contractor selection stage, the IRNA reported.
The Sassanido archaeological landscape of Fars, engraved on the UNESCO World Heritage List, includes eight monuments and petroglyphs, and embossed patterns east of the states of three counties: Salvesten, Caselon and Filzabad. It is a valuable treasure to boost local tourism.
The Aldasir Papakan Palace, the Aldasir Papakan Palace, the Sharägur in Firzabad County, the historic city of Sassanid and Bishapur in Salvesten, the Danchogan Relief and Shapur Caves in Caseloan County are world heritage sites left behind in Sassanid in Fasir.
Currently under the control of the Sassanid Landscape World Heritage Sites Site Unit, the Sassanid heritage has been deprived of important funds for the restoration and strengthening of the site for several years, but the landscape has begun to budge and approve valuable conservation, restoration and tourism measures.
Zare’ explained that of the entire budget, 150 billion rials have been allocated to Firuzabad Axis, 150 billion rials to Bishapur and Tang Chogan, and 700 billion rials to Sarvestan.
He added that the flooring was completed at Tang Chogan and part of the access road was completed at Bishapur Complex.
It said that the bid for restoration and improvement of the architectural ruins of the palace in the ancient city of Bishapur will be concluded in the form of four contracts and will soon enter the implementation phase.
Regarding the latest situation in the restoration and preservation of Salvesten Palace, he said that contractors for the strengthening and preservation project of Salvesten Palace have been selected through bidding, and these workshops will be handed over to the contractors soon to begin work.
He added that the implementation of access roads to visit this ancient palace has also been completed, and other tourism infrastructure for this axis is also planned.
Zare said plans are being prepared to build several sanitary fountains at Sarvestan Palace Complex, and the bidding and contractor selection phase for the project will also be held soon.
The Sassanid era is extremely important in Iran’s history. Under Sassanid, Persian art and architecture experienced a general Renaissance. The architecture often took spectacular proportions, including one of the highlights of the ensemble, Ctesiphon, Firuzabad and several palaces in Sarvestan.
Although crafts such as metalwork and jewel sculptures were very refined, scholarships were encouraged by the state. In that year, both East and West works were translated into Pahlavi, the Sassanian language.
The archaeological landscape of Sassanid represents a highly efficient system of land use and strategic use of natural terrain in creating the earliest cultural centers of the Sassanidian civilization.
UNESCO has been added to the World Heritage List, entitled “The Sassanid Archaeological Landscape of the Fars Region” (the UNESCO entitled “The Sassanid Archaeological Landscape of the Fars Region”). The ensemble consists of eight archaeological sites located in three geographical parts of Firuzabad, Bishapur and Sarvestan.
