At least dozens were killed in the town of Druze, mainly near the Syrian capital, on Tuesday, and in a sectarian clash between Druze gunmen and Sunni gunmen.
Reuters reported that the fighting marked the latest episode of fatal sectarian violence in Syria. There, minority fears have been puffy since former President Bashar al-Assad was banished in December. Opposition groups have established a temporary government to replace Assad’s government.
Such fears spiked after hundreds of Alawyans were killed in March, in an apparent revenge against Assad’s loyalist attack.
The latest clash began overnight, according to security sources in the HTS-led administration. Local rescue workers said the combat with medium weapons killed 13 people.
After the collapse of Assad’s government, Syria has been tackling unrest and conflict between the HTS-led regime forces and ethnic communities.
