Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke to Iranian President Maud Pezeshkian on the phone, Almen Press reported.
The Prime Minister presented the results of the August 8 consultations in Washington, D.C. to the Iranian president, highlighting the opportunity for the established peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan to be open to the region, the prime minister’s position read out.
Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized that regional routes function within the framework of the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty and jurisdiction of the country and operate on the basis of reciprocity.
The Prime Minister thanked the President of Iran for his objective assessment of the Washington Agreement, highlighting the importance of his future visit to Armenia.
In this call, Pezeshkian may emphasize in this respect the preservation of Armenian sovereignty and the non-interference of military or security forces in the implementation of the Yerevan-Baku transport corridor, warning of possible actions by the US, and advocate for pursuing hegemonic goals in the Caucasus region under economic investment and ensuring peace.
“This path must ensure that it is truly a path of peace and development, not a tool to achieve foreign hegemonic goals,” he added.
