TEHRAN – The Barekat Charitable Foundation, affiliated with the Executive Headquarters of the Imam, has created 30,309 jobs in approximately 4,356 impoverished areas during the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 21.
IRNA reports that the Barekat Foundation is investing 131 trillion rials (approximately $120 million) to create sustainable employment opportunities in disadvantaged areas across the country.
The plan harnessed the capacity of local communities and benefited from collaboration with enforcement agencies and social capital to create employment opportunities.
According to Seyed Amir Hossein Madani, an official of the Barekat Charitable Foundation, the Barekat Foundation has so far covered 80 percent of the target groups in the field of employment.
The official mentioned various employment projects and said these include 232 enterprises, 845 workshops and more than 29,231 small and domestic projects. Approximately 1,376 projects were allocated to female household heads, 438 projects to families of prisoners, and 354 projects to individuals with disabilities.
There were also 105 knowledge-based projects, 146 aquaculture projects and 1,978 water efficiency projects.
Madani further said that the foundation plans to create 80,000 jobs by the end of this year, March 20, 2026.
The Imam Order Executive Headquarters was established in 1989. In Iranian calendar year 1386 (March 2007 to March 2008), the social arm of the organization, the Barekat Charitable Foundation, was established with the aim of promoting social justice.
The socio-economic empowerment of communities by encouraging entrepreneurship, prioritizing women breadwinners, developing infrastructure such as water and electricity grids, building roads, building schools, expanding educational space, improving the health of all people, and granting non-repayable loans and insurance, especially in developing regions and areas most affected by wars and natural disasters, are priorities for charitable foundations.
