Zhang, deputy director of the Building Energy Efficiency and Science and Technology Bureau, made this remark during the latest episode of the all-media talk show “China Economic Roundtable” hosted by Xinhua News Agency.
Our first priority is to carry out high-quality urban regeneration. “We are giving more importance to urban renewal, systematically promoting the development of quality housing, residential communities, neighborhoods and urban areas, and coordinating a series of projects on people’s livelihood, safety and development to create quality living spaces for people,” Zhang said.
“And we will promote highly efficient urban governance,” Zhang said. “Aiming to modernize urban governance systems and capacities, we will continue to increase investment in governance, strengthen overall coordination in urban management, and shift the focus of governance and support resources to the grassroots level.”
According to Zhang, the ministry is tasked with formulating the 15th five-year plan for the housing and urban and rural development sectors at a high level.
“Furthermore, we will steadily advance the formulation of the special urban regeneration plan in the 15th Five-Year Plan, fully demonstrate our strategic leadership role, and draw a blueprint for high-quality urban development.”
