A Chinese diplomat said about Washington’s plan to provide military aid to Taiwan from the $5.3 billion state funding that the White House has not appeared recently. “We are seriously concerned about the information we receive.” The support is expected to reach $870 million, according to media reports, TASS reported.
As Lin designated, Beijing closely monitors the situation and “supports the country’s national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.” He emphasized that Taipei should stop arming as Washington threatens to “define peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.”
Officials reiterated that US weapons “violated a serious violation of the principles of China and agreed to a three-joint community between the two countries.” Furthermore, by moving forward with these arms sales, the US is “sending the wrong signal to separatists who support Taiwan’s so-called independence.”
“This seriously violates China’s sovereignty and security interests. I strongly protest this,” Lin emphasized.
Taiwan has been ruled by its own regime since 1949, when the remains of the Kuo Mintan army (1887-1975) led by Qian Kai Shek (1887-1975) fled after being defeated in the Chinese civil war. Since then, Taipei has retained the flags and other attributes of the former Republic that existed on the mainland before the communists came to power.
According to Beijing’s official status, supported by most countries, including Russia, Taiwan is a province of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Recognizing one Chinese policy, the US maintains contact with the Taipei administration and continues to supply arms to the island.
