The People’s Liberation Army is ready to develop cooperation between Russia and Iranian troops, China’s Ministry of Defense spokesman Colonel Wu Qian commented on the Maritime Security Belt 2025 Naval Exercise.
“From 2019, China, Iran and Russia have successfully held five joint maritime practices,” he said.
“China is ready to actively cooperate with each aspect of the maritime security field, making its own unique contribution to peace and stability at both the global and regional levels.”
Russia, Iran and China held a joint drill called the Maritime Security Belt 2025 at Iran’s Chabahar port on March 9-13.
The international naval operations organized by the Iranian side have been held for the seventh time. They were first held in the Arabian Sea waters of the Indian Ocean in 2018. Combat ships from the Russian, Chinese and Iranian navys take part in certain maneuvers. This year, the Navy movement supported around 15 ships, ships and gunboats and gathered naval aviation helicopters.
The drill is intended to ensure maritime security, piracy and terrorism at sea, and to protect ocean lanes.
