Beijing journalists from various countries, including Iran, have convened in Beijing to participate in a prominent media exchange programme hosted by China.
A new edition of the China International Press and Communications Centre (CIPCC) program for the first half of 2025 began Thursday and was overseen by the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA).
At the gathering held on February 27th, participants were given an overview of this year’s programme, accompanied by a video introducing the previous edition. CIPCC Director Yu Lei, along with staff and participating volunteers, informed journalists about the program details.
The CIPCC has seen an unprecedented invitation expanded from over 100 countries to over 120 journalists, as reported by the CIPCC, by inviting a record number of journalists to participate in the ongoing media exchange programme. This is a new record for the largest number of journalists invited since the launch of the Media Exchange program in 2014.
Two Iranian journalists from Tehran Times, associated with MEHR News Agency, are one of the foreign journalists who received an invitation from China.
The CIPCC edition lasts twice a year for more than four months.
The CIPCC aims to provide journalists with a unique opportunity to first-hand learning insights about China and its masses. By engaging in a series of workshops, training sessions and cultural experiences, participants will enhance their understanding of Chinese history, culture and contemporary issues. Moreover, along with learning about China, participants have the opportunity to exchange their experiences and perspectives with their Chinese peers.
The program takes place in modern facilities featuring excellent geographical locations and accessible transport alternatives. The site spans approximately 60,000 square meters and consists of more than 12 buildings, including over 800 apartments. During your stay, participants will have access to a comprehensive range of amenities and services designed to enhance their experience.
The CIPCC initiative sets the bar high in terms of what journalists expect from such events.
China has not only emerged as an economic, technological and industrial role model around the world, but its media programs are also attracting global attention.
Platforms like the CIPCC could significantly counteract the influence of Western media.
