Iran is struggling with a power shortage and increased power outages, but the development of renewable energy, especially solar energy, could be key to solving that problem, according to a report by Tehran-based Fars News Agency.
This year’s Iran-China agreement provides for 7,000 megawatts of solar panels and the funds will be fed from Iran’s National Development Fund.
If the plan implementation process proceeds according to the plan, by the end of 2026, a roadmap will be drawn to overcome the power shortage crisis, in addition to reducing the peak summer load in the coming years.
For Iran today, the smart combination of targeted imports of solar panels and ongoing support for knowledge-based production is the best solution to overcome the energy crisis and move towards the green economy, reports Fars elsewhere.
The 7,000 megawatt project with China presents a unique opportunity, subject to policymakers to take practical and sustainable measures to strengthen the country’s technical potential. Only then can I see a sustainable and bright future for Iran in the renewable energy sector.
