BEIJING – China’s top political advisory groups held the closing meeting of their annual session in the capital, Beijing on Monday.
The closing gathering of the third session of the 14th National Committee of the People’s Political Council of China (CPPCC) was convened in the presidential office, with President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders present.
A considerable amount of conditions for international media representatives, in addition to local journalists, reported on the event.
Wang Huning, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, spoke to Congress during the meeting. “We must focus on deepening reforms, advancing high-quality development, protecting and improving people’s livelihoods, ensuring social stability, conducting research, and making proposals and suggestions,” Wang said.
He added, “We must serve the big picture and the people’s livelihood through high quality consultations and proposals to deepen unity and solidarity.”
Resolutions on the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee’s Work Report, resolutions addressing the handling of proposals from CPPCC members since the previous year’s annual session, reports evaluating new proposals, and political resolutions on the 14th CPPCC National Committee’s third session were all ratified during the meeting.
The CPPCC is designed to promote cooperation between multiple parties, all designed to engage in political consultations under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC). The institution has been elected for five years and consists of over 2,000 members representing both the CPC and various other political parties. This includes individuals from various life-long journeys, whose members are responsible for submitting proposals relating to state matters for consideration.
China’s top parliament, the National People’s Assembly (NPC), will also hold a closing session on Tuesday. Annual meetings are called two sessions.
Since 2014, China has launched a program designed to ensure comprehensive compensation for two sessions and provide direct insights to its citizens. China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC) implements a media exchange program every other year under the auspices of the China Public Diplomatic Association (CPDA). In the first segment of the 2025 program, which lasted over four months, the CIPCC extended its invitation to more than 120 journalists from over 100 countries. Approximately 50 journalists attended the opening ceremony held in Beijing on February 27th.
The two sessions in 2025 have been growing international interest due to significant advances in Chinese technology.
China is increasing as a major global technology centre driven by initiatives to nurture technologies that are not affected by the West.
