Beijing – Beijing Dongheemen Middle School, exemplifying excellence in modern Chinese education, has recognized international journalists, including myself from the Tehran Times.
What unfolded was a compelling portrait of the educational system that aims and achieves the overall development of students, far beyond traditional scholars.
From the moment we stepped onto campus, the spirit was evident. The impressive “long live youth” sculptures were more than just artwork. It was a manifesto. It is a bold declaration of the school’s commitment to celebrate vitality, possibilities and an endless future embodied by students. This spirit permeated every aspect of the institution we explored.
Investing in the body and mind: World-class facilities
– Sports Centre: Modern beacons, three-storey sports centres redefine physical education. Its rational design and top-class equipment accommodate a variety of sports programs and provides students with a professional grade environment. This isn’t just a gym. It is a catalyst for fitness, teamwork and healthy lifestyles that are essential to Dongimen’s philosophy. The emphasis on physical well-being highlights an important pillar of their educational approach.
– Science and Technology Center: Leading to “innovation, practice and exploration”, this hub is a testament to China’s willingness to excel in STEM. With state-of-the-art facilities such as a 3D printing lab, model production area and innovation space, it offers students unparalleled practical opportunities. Here, theoretical knowledge transforms into concrete creations, cultivating tomorrow’s critical thinkers and problem-solvers.
– Psychological Resource Center: Perhaps the deepest insight comes from the Psychological Resource Center. Far from an afterthought, this comprehensive 8-room facility is the foundation of Dongimen’s support system. “We have weekly courses and club activities that are specialized in mental health,” she explained, “and we have weekly courses and club activities.” This aggressive “preventive interventional development” model extends beyond students to parents. “We have consultants who help parents and students regulate their mood and mental health. They can make appointments and make phone calls,” Chen added.
Beyond stress relief: Promoting lifelong happiness
Chen illuminated the tangible effects of the centre, particularly during high pressure periods, such as major exams for grades 9 and 12. Importantly, the center also tackles the daily challenges faced by young people. “Teens may have preferences about appearances, but parents have different views,” Chen points out, citing this as a common source of conflict. “We provide space for solutions and understanding,” she emphasized, highlighting the role of the centre in navigating the complexities of growth.
It reflects the rise in education in China
Beijing Dongjimen Junior High School is more than just a school. This is a microcosm of China’s evolving educational ambition. Investing in state-of-the-art facilities – sports, STEM, and mental health – marks clear priorities. The professionalism and passion that is obvious to faculty and administrators whom Dongzhimen Education Group proudly describes as “very ethical, committed, professionally skilled, innovative and innovative” is what drives this vision.
Comprehensive development model
The visit, facilitated by the China International Press and Communications Centre (CIPCC), under the China Public Diplomatic Association (CPDA), provided undeniable evidence that the Chinese education system is actively pursuing overall development. By seamlessly integrating robust academics with cutting-edge scientific exploration, essential physical activity, and emotional intelligence training with critically sophisticated mental health support, Beijing Donghimeng Middle School offers a powerful blueprint for fostering not only skilled minds, but healthy, well-adjacent and thriving individuals. It is a dynamic illustration of where Chinese education is now and where it is ambitiously headed.
