TEHRAN – A group of Chinese archaeologists, professors and students visited Susa’s UNESCO World Heritage Site in southwestern Iran to gain insight into the region’s rich history, civilization and unique historic artefacts.
According to the IRNA, a 12-person delegation consisting of Chinese archaeologists, history and art professors has begun a day’s visit to Susa. During their visit, they explored Susa’s vast cultural heritage museum and its archaeological sites.
In recent years, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Iran and Susa has increased due to the expansion of cultural and economic ties with China.
A few weeks ago, Chang Hua’s Chinese ambassador to Tehran visited Khuhzestan, where he toured the UNESCO-registered Zigrat, the museum, the heritage of Susa, and the tomb of the Prophet Daniel.
During the visit, the Chinese envoy hoped that effective promotions would attract more Chinese tourists to Fuzestan, further strengthening the tourism exchange between the two countries.
Located between the Rivers of Calfe and Dez in southwestern Iran, Susa was once one of the most important and attractive cities in the ancient world. Living for thousands of years, Susa accepts several layers of urban settlements from the late 5th century BC to the 13th century AD.
The ancient town served as the capital of Elam (Susiana) (Susiana) and the administrative capital of King Darius I and his successor since 522 BC.
Susa was once part of the historic kingdom of Elam between Babylon and ancient Persia.
