Borgeld is a gem of the province of Lorestan in western Iran. The historically important city dates back to the Sassanid period, when it was a small settlement near Nahaband, now part of Hamedan Province.
During the Seljuk period in the 9th and 10th centuries, Borgeld flourished as an industrial and commercial hub at the heart of the Zagros Mountains.
Its excellence continued in the Kajar period (18th and 19th centuries) when Boljad was chosen as the capital of the Lorestan and the Kuzestan region. Today, it remains an industrial powerhouse within the state known for its prosperous production units and markets that cater to both domestic and international consumers.
The city’s rich history goes back further, with evidence of Parthian artifacts being discovered nearby. Furthermore, Borgeld’s Jamemesk, one of Iran’s oldest mosques, is a testament to the deep historical roots of the city, built on the ruins of the Fire Temple in Zoroasta.
With its stunning scenery, historic treasures and modern amenities, Chogahir stands as a symbol of Boljad’s charm, offering visitors an unforgettable experience in the heart of Iran’s western highlands.
