[TEHRAN]A meeting to discuss the draft comprehensive tourism plan for Qom province was held in the presence of Governor Akbar Benamjoh and numerous provincial officials, during which the formulation of the comprehensive tourism plan for the province began.
According to Mehul News Agency, Prime Minister Benamjou stressed the need to coordinate executive agencies and accelerate the process of conducting research at a meeting to formulate a comprehensive tourism plan for Qom province.
He said Qom’s spiritual identity and religious status should be taken into consideration when formulating a comprehensive tourism plan so that the final outcome is consistent with the province’s cultural and religious ethos.
Noting the importance of a comprehensive approach to Qom tourism, he said the plan must be able to preserve the city’s cultural and religious authenticity, while providing the basis for economic development, job creation and thriving tourism-related businesses.
The head of the consulting team for the Qom Integrated Tourism Plan said that the plan will be developed with a strategic approach that focuses on the capacity of the state’s indigenous people and pilgrimage tourism.
Mohammad Zahedi further added: “Currently, the consulting team is in the data collection and basic research stage and has not yet entered the final stages of planning.
The goal is to develop a five-year plan for the sustainable development of pilgrimage tourism in Qom. ”
Javad Shaker Alani, head of the Qom Management and Planning Organization, appreciated the efforts of tourism sector managers and activists, saying: “The plan should take into account the role of the tourism industry, especially pilgrim tourism, as a driver of economic development in the state, and the link between the development program of Qom and this plan should be established.”
Minister of Culture and Heritage Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri said in September last year that Qom Governorate would achieve a special status in the domestic and international tourism industry within five years through infrastructure expansion, private sector support and continued operational stability.
Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Abai Qom Hotel on Wednesday, he said, “It was at the Chamber of Commerce that we made our first visit to the state’s industrial and productive capacity. The exhibition marks the significant development of industrial, commercial and tourism infrastructure and promises a bright future for investment and economic growth in Qom State.”
