Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme Council for National Security, underlined Pakistan’s strategic importance in regional security during his arrival in Islamabad early Tuesday.
“Pakistan is an important and influential country in the region and occupies a prominent position in shaping regional security dynamics,” Larijani told reporters.
He noted that Iran and Pakistan share deep historical and cultural ties, adding that enhanced multi-sectoral cooperation could play an important role in supporting peace and stability as the regional situation evolves.
Larijani expressed hope that these issues would be fully resolved during his talks with visiting Pakistani officials.
Iran and Pakistan maintain long-standing political, cultural, and security ties. The two countries share a long border and frequently collaborate on cross-border security issues, counterterrorism, trade, and regional crisis management. Cooperation between our two countries has taken on new importance as the broader region experiences shifting alliances, security tensions, and ongoing conflict.
