World nations will gather in France next month to address what the United Nations faces as they face a global emergency as they face rising temperatures, plastic pollution that suffocates marine life, and the relentless overintroduction of fish and other resources.
The third Ocean Conference aims to unite governments, scientists, businesses and civil society, raise funds to take action and deal with these crises facing the ocean and those who rely on for survival.
Conference Secretary General Li Junhua told reporters on Tuesday that he hopes it will become a “vital opportunity” to mobilize people from all fields and around the world, rather than another everyday meeting.
The conference, co-hosted by France and Costa Rica, will be held nicely in the French Riviera from June 7th to June 13th. It is expected to bring together more than 60 world leaders, dozens of ministers, roughly 4,000 government officials and 6,000 members of civil society.
