TEHRAN – Iran’s parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bakar Kalibah gave a strong speech during parliamentary session on Sunday, warning of reliance on foreign forces and highlighting the resilience of the Iranian state.
In his speech, Karibaf made indirect references between recent conferences and US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Voldy Zelensky, using it as an example of how countries relying on external forces ultimately face betrayal and failure.
On February 28th, Ukrainian President Voldy Mirzelensky was in Washington and signed a deal that would provide the United States with 50% of the country’s oil and rare minerals.
However, the conference turned into a fierce debate after Zelensky indirectly criticised the US and Trump foreign policy. Vice President JD Vance accused Zelensky of disrespectting the United States in his ungrateful, oval office. Trump also accused Zelensky of “provoking World War I” and of not wanting to reach a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting ended with the visiting Ukrainian president being asked to leave the White House suddenly, cancelling lunch and a joint press conference.
“A country that outsources its security, advances in others, and places slight hope and trust in the rog haughty power is destined to fail,” he declared. “The Islamic Revolution was a rational uprising born out of the historical experiences of the Iranian state, and this land was freed from its dependence on the most unreliable forces in the world.”
Kalibahu criticized his description as a “hegemonic system” in the West, claiming that powerful countries would manipulate their allies with empty promises before abandoning them when they fit their interests.
“The hegemony system exploits its allies with unfounded promises to achieve their ominous goals and destroys them. They have publicly proven that getting along with them is fatal and destructive, although their position with the oppressors may be difficult or expensive,” he said.
Quoting the Holy Qur’an, Karibah argued that rog-worldly powers consistently break the agreement and deceive the supposed partner. He argued that Iran’s historical experience proved this particularly true in its dealing with the US.
“What the leaders of the Islamic Revolution have been predicted many years ago – expose the insatiable greed of the West – now visible to people all over the world through the lens of modern media,” he added.
To conclude his speech, Kalibah emphasized Iran’s independence and resilience, saying that the nation will continue to learn from its own experiences and the experiences of others.
