DARYANN – The International Journalist’s requirement concluded the second day of a five-day media tour in Northeast China’s Leahong province on Wednesday.
As an Iranian journalist, I was one of the foreign correspondents who was privileged to witness firsthand how Darian combines the power of industry with environmental awareness, local heritage and global ambitions.
Lear On Port Group: Green Growth Hub, World Trade
We visited the Liaoning Port Group and started our Wednesday tour. The port seamlessly blends economic development and environmental management as the basis for regional revitalization and global trade. Strategically located in the heart of Northeast Asia, it serves as an important gateway for three northeastern states and Inner Mongolia, linking to more than 300 ports in 160 countries.
What sets the Rear-On Port apart is the incredible balance between industrial advancement and natural preservation. The port’s world-class infrastructure, including 217 modern berths and specialized terminals for oil, minerals and vehicles, casts trade and logistics while maintaining harmony with the Darian’s stunning coastal ecosystem.
As a key player in China’s Belt and Road Initiative, the Leahong Port Group will strengthen its global supply chain through Chinese European freight trains and regional logistics networks. Commitment to high quality, sustainable growth exemplifies economic ambitions and how green development flourishes, making it a model for modern port cities around the world.
The revitalization of northeast China and its subsequent port groups are not mere ports, but engines of prosperity, and are testament to China’s vision of environmentally friendly progress.
Dalian Bingshan Group: pioneering green innovation in refrigeration, energy
The next destination is synonymous with innovation in China’s refrigerated and HVAC sectors. With a 95-year heritage, Bingshan is a highly engineering powerhouse that combines premium technology with sustainable solutions that address some of the most urgent industrial and environmental challenges today.
Specialised in ultra-low temperature systems (-272°C to 430°C to 430°C), Binghan excels in industrial cooling, smart cold chain, hydrogen energy and zero carbon factory solutions.
What really stood out during our visit was the company’s focus on innovation-driven growth. From AI-powered industrial internet platforms to cutting-edge carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), Bingshan is at the forefront of environmentally friendly manufacturing. Focusing on 1,515 patents, four nationally certified green factories, and “professional and refined” technologies, the company is a role model for sustainable industrial development.
A true pioneer, Bingshan is counterarguably shaping the future of refrigerated storage, sustainable and globally.
A memorable visit to the Daryan Urban Planning Exhibition Centre
Among the most attractive stops of the day was an attractive visit to the Darian Urban Planning Exhibition Centre, a state-of-the-art facility managed by the Darian Natural Resources Bureau. The centre, which spans 30,000 square meters across five levels, dives deep into the city’s historic roots, modern advancements and a bold vision for the future.
The exhibitions are arranged on a thematic basis. The first floor records the history of urban development in the city. The second explores current achievements and future city blueprints. And the third celebrates our commitment to ecological conservation and people-oriented planning.
Since its opening in 2018, the center has received many acclaim, including its designation as a science education foundation and a state-level social sciences outreach site. As a visitor, I was struck by the comprehensive scope of the exhibition, as well as the progressive spirit they conveyed.
Darian’s trajectory is one of thoughtful progress in sustainability, innovation and civic well-being. Daryan is a very livable city, with a comfortable climate and beautiful surroundings. This forms its core identity. The city also boasts strong growth potential supported by diverse industries and collective efforts. Moreover, Darian is essentially open. We are actively seeking international trade, cultural tourism and global partnerships.
Shenyan: Rising Centre for Regional Exchange
On Thursday, the journey continues as we head to Shenyan, the capital of the province. There, events from two major Shanghai Cooperation Organizations (SCOs) await. These gatherings further reveal the expansion of Leaon’s role in regional cooperation, economic integration and cultural exchange under the SCO framework.
This international media tour is part of a broader initiative hosted by the SCO’s Good Deeds and Friendship Cooperation Committee (GNFCC). The GNFCC has expanded its invitations to foreign journalists with the aim of deepening international understanding and introducing the advances of Leaon in the new era.
The initiative was directly in line with the vision presented by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the 2013 SCO Bishkek Summit, advocating for a building institution focused on friendship and mutual understanding between SCO member states and observers.
The SCO Summit is scheduled to be held in Tianjin this fall. This will undoubtedly continue to focus on China’s commitment to regional cooperation and global dialogue.
