The Chief of Crisis Management for Hormozgan state said 18 people were killed on Sunday morning after the explosion that shook the Shahid Rajae port in Hormozgan state on Sunday.
He said the number of injured people has exceeded 800.
He added that about two-thirds of those injured have been discharged from the medical centre, with the rest remaining in treatment.
According to PressTV, some of Iran’s largest container ports have been on fire after chemicals stored in the port were caught in the fire, leading to a massive explosion that killed several people and injured hundreds more.
The fire began at noon local time in the port area where chemicals are reportedly stored. It led to a massive explosion felt in nearby cities, leading to the complete closure of local customs and goods processing facilities.
