A spokesman for the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee announced that Deputy Minister of Politics, Majid Tak Ravanchi, said at the committee session that Iran would not negotiate the red line in talks with the United States.
According to Mehr’s press reporter Ebrahim Rezaei, details of the committee meeting on Sunday explained that Takht-Ravanchi had submitted a report on the recent negotiations held in Muscat, Oman. Takht-Ravanchi also referred to rounds of two previous talks at Muscat and Rome, highlighting that while the previous discussion is general, it is now heading towards detailed negotiations.
He highlighted the contradictory positions that Americans have taken, and emphasized that uranium enrichment within Iran remains a clear red line that does not compromise. According to him, this series of lectures focused on defining a framework for moving towards more detailed discussion.
Rezaei added that Takht-Ravanchi pointed out that Oman acted and continued to act as a mediator in the negotiations.
Rezai further elaborated that the third round negotiations revolved around two main pillars. Ensuring the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program and lifting all sanctions.
Takht-Ravanchi also notified the committee that negotiations for the next round are scheduled for upcoming Saturdays, but the location has not yet been decided. He rated the Omanian consultations as “not negative”, noting that there were no threats or bad behavior during the discussion, predicting future sessions would dig into more detail.
Furthermore, Takht-Ravanchi repeated that Iran did not link its economy to the outcome of the negotiations and maintained a careful approach. He also highlighted the continued high level of coordination between China and Russia.
Senior Iranian diplomats also stressed that topics such as zero enrichment and missile capabilities are one of Iran’s unnegotiable red lines, and that these issues have not been brought to consultations and that the focus remains only on the nuclear file. If any party attempts to impose additional requests, Iran rejects them and says it will continue negotiations based on established principles and directions.
