The Minister of Petroleum expressed the hope that the country can achieve the ability to produce all components of a drilling rig domestically, aiming for 100% localization.
Mehran Makvandi, CEO of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC), said the rig, which has a capacity of 2,000 horsepower and can drill up to 6,000 meters deep, has been allocated to the oil-rich southern region.
He emphasized that 100% of the workforce operating the rig is from Khuzestan Oblast. Makvandi added that the localization of the rig has saved about $7 million in foreign exchange and its performance is on par with foreign-made rigs.
