“Just as diplomacy was attacked by Israel and the United States in June, so too has the ‘Cairo Accord’ been obliterated by the United States and three European countries,” Araghchi said in a post on his X account on Friday, referring to the announcement yesterday of the termination of the cooperation agreement with the IAEA previously signed in Cairo following the passage of an anti-Iran resolution on Thursday by three European countries, Britain, Germany, France and the United States.
“The series of dastardly events that brought us here is as follows: – On the eve of the 6th nuclear negotiations with the US, Iran was suddenly attacked by Israel and then by the US. – Then, when Iran signed an agreement with the IAEA in Cairo to resume inspections, despite the bombing of its nuclear facilities, also mediated by Egypt, the E3 pursued UN sanctions against our nationals under US pressure. – It is clear to everyone that the United States and the E3 have colluded to condemn Iran at the IAEA Board of Directors, starting with the facilities that were not bombed in June when Iran began giving IAEA inspectors access to our nuclear weapons. “We are not a party to this and are well aware that given the E3 and the US’s desire for escalation, a formal abandonment of the Cairo agreement is a direct result of their provocations,” Iran’s top diplomat elaborated in a post.
