TEHRAN – On Saturday, the Minister of Tourism from the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states participated in the iconic tree planting ceremony of Erzram, Turkey, reaffirmed its commitment to regional cooperation and sustainable tourism development.
The ceremony was held on the sidelines of the 6th Eco Ministerial Conference on Tourism. We also commemorated the designation of the city as an environmental tourism capital in 2025.
In a meaningful gesture, Reza Salehi Amiri, Minister of Iran’s cultural heritage, tourism and crafts, planted a special tree dedicated to Iran’s Islamic Republic, in addition to joining his counterpart in a ritual to plant a group of trees. His actions represented Iran’s strong commitment to promoting cultural cooperation, environmental management and regional tourism diplomacy.
Trees planted during the ceremony are intended as a lasting symbol of peace, friendship, cultural solidarity and respect for nature. They emphasize the importance of protecting natural heritage and promoting responsible tourism in the eco region and beyond.
Eco is an over 8 million square kilometre intergovernmental regional organization that sieges countries in Europe, the Caucus, Central and Western Asia, and connects Russia with more than 460 million inhabitants and Europe. According to the organization, its overall objective is to achieve sustainable economic development across member states and regions.
