Israeli public broadcaster Kan reported that Cairo “submits new proposals on ceasefires and prisoner exchanges, aiming to bridge the gap between Israel and Hamas.”
“A new proposal has been submitted by Egypt within the last 24 hours to reach a consensus between Israel and Hamas,” he said.
However, the station did not mention the terms or details, but said it was somewhere between the proposals of former mediators Egypt and Qatar, including the release of five living prisoners, and Israel’s proposals, which were conditional on the release of 11 living prisoners in Gaza.
Egypt has not commented on the report yet.
Israeli forces launched a surprising air campaign in Gaza on March 18, killing 1,249 casualties and injuring 3,022 people in January despite a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.
Since October 2023, more than 50,600 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli military onslaught Gaza. Most of them are women and children.
The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Joab Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel is also facing a genocide case in the International Court of Justice due to its war with the enclave.
