President Abdel Fatta Elsisi received a call from Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Sia al-Sudani to discuss regional development and bilateral relations, Arab world English media reported.
The two leaders reviewed the results of the third session of the Egypt-Iraq Joint High Commission held in Baghdad in January 2025. They agreed on the importance of building on the progress achieved in trade and economic cooperation, particularly.
President El-Sisi has repeatedly supported Egypt’s Iraq reconstruction and infrastructure projects, expressing his readiness to contribute through Egyptian companies with proven expertise. Al Sudani welcomed the offer and thanked Egypt for its continued solidarity.
The call also addressed the Israeli regime’s attack on Qatar. Both leaders condemned the attack as a violation of international law, confirming their full support for Qatar and its sovereignty.
Regarding the situation in Gaza, they highlighted the ceasefire and the urgent need for unstoppable humanitarian assistance. They also firmly refused to move Palestinians.
President Elsi also explained to Al Sudani about Egyptian diplomatic efforts related to Iran’s nuclear file, and recently a cooperation agreement between Iran and the Egyptian-mediated IAEA resumed consultations and worked together to reduce regional tensions.
