NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tish said the shooting occurred around 3:30am at Taste of the City Lounge off Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights, reported by NBC New York.
Victims range from 27 to 61 years old. The three killed were not immediately known by a 27-year-old man, a 35-year-old man and a third man. Tish said the remaining eight victims were taken to a hospital near Brooklyn, causing life-threatening injuries.
“What happened this morning was terrible and we’re going to investigate to see what went down,” Tish said.
The shooting began after a conflict at a busy club, the commissioner said. She said officers recovered at least 36 shell casings from the lounge on Sunday morning, as well as firearms found on nearby streets.
The NYPD was looking for multiple gunmen on Sunday. There were no arrests immediately following the shooting.
The shooting comes during a record low year for gun violence in New York City
