In a statement, the Islamic Republic Embassy in Iran condemned inhumane, coronavirus armed attacks on Iranian Cistan and eight Pakistani citizens in Baluchistan on the strongest possible conditions.
Terrorism is a chronic tragedy, a common threat across the region, and in collaboration with international terrorism there are elements of security and betrayal of targets across the region, the embassy said.
He added that facing this ominous phenomenon requires collective and joint efforts by all countries to eradicate all forms of terrorism and extremism that have insisted the lives of thousands of foreigners in recent decades.
Eight Pakistani citizens were brutally killed in southeastern Iran’s Sistan Balshestan province, Iranian and Pakistani officials said they were being mentioned as shocking acts of violence near the shared borders of both countries.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the preliminary report suggests the involvement of anti-Pakistani extremist groups operating in the border areas.
The Pakistani Embassy in Tehran confirmed that its representatives had arrived at the site to assist in identifying the bodies and gathering further information.
“We are in continuous contact with Iranian authorities,” a spokesman for the Pakistan embassy in Tehran said. “All possible steps will be taken to support affected families and ensure justice is provided.”
According to Iran’s Mehr news agency, the attackers entered a residence in Sirkan district, fired fire, killing nine people, and injuring three other people before fleeing the scene.
The state’s lieutenant governor, Alileza Malhamati, reviewed the details, citing accounts of the survivors of the three armed assailants who conducted the attack.
