Authorities told Al Jazeera that both the US and Yemeni Ansala resistance movements continue to support a mutual ceasefire.
Earlier this month, the two agreed to a ceasefire through Oman. The agreement prohibits both parties from attacking each other, including US ships, to ensure safe maritime passages.
Before that, the US had significantly intensified its fatal attack on Yemen as a way to force Sanaa against Washington’s most precious regional ally, Israeli regime.
US officials also emphasized that Israel has not notified the US in advance of any attacks on Ansalara-related targets.
On Friday, Israeli forces carried out a new strike against port facilities in Yemen’s Hudaida region. Administration Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said “this is just the beginning,” and promised a fierce attack on the group’s order structure and key assets.
Yemen’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement Friday that repeated targeting of Yemen’s ports is evidence of the illicit failure of occupying groups that failed to achieve that goal.
The statement condemned the complete silence of the international community regarding Israeli invasion.
Another senior Ansarla member, Mohammad al-Buhaiti, said that Yemen’s ongoing operations against Israeli regime in favor of the Gaza Strip would be exempt from the ceasefire contract.
Yemeni forces have been attacking US targets in Israel and the US seas in support of the Palestinians in Gaza since Tel Aviv launched a devastating war on the besieged Palestinian territory in October 2023.
