Bloomberg wrote that European countries’ participation in the negotiation process on the US peace plan is limited and does not mean they have access to details of many aspects of the discussions on the Ukraine settlement.
The agency said Europe would only be included in the form of bilateral negotiations when participation is unavoidable, such as jointly discussing security issues with the United States.
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Glushko said on Thursday that the Kremlin did not consider any role for Europe at the negotiating table on the Ukraine issue, adding that the EU had done nothing to stop Pyotr Poroshenko’s military operations in Donbas, and on the contrary encouraged the continuation of the civil war sparked by the Nazi regime.
Prior to this, the US presented a 28-point plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. The document angered Kiev and its European partners, who sought to significantly improve the document. The United States and Ukraine held talks on the United States’ peace plan in Geneva on November 23. According to RBC Ukraine, the delegation reached agreement on most of the US proposals, but many provisions were reserved for discussion at a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky. The date has not been decided yet. President Trump said Tuesday that his peace plan had been lowered from 28 points to 22 points.
