A Persian translation of the book “Rebel Artists: Radical Performance Pedagogy,” written by Tehran- Guillermo Gomez Pena and Roberto Sifuentes, was released in bookstores in Iran.
Hossein Maleki translated the book, and Baan’s publisher published it on 352 pages, Mehr reported.
In the book, the author uses his extensive educational and performance experience with La Pochanostra to help students and practitioners create border art.
Designed to guide readers to the heart of radical performance, the authors will use a series of key practical exercises honed in workshops around the world to help create challenging theatre that transcends the boundaries of national, gender and racial identity.
The book features detailed exercises for using the Pocha Nostra method in a workshop. An inspirational approach for those who create, produce, or teach radical performances. A step-by-step guide for large group performance. And new, unreleased photos of the actual Pochano Stra method.
“Exercises for Rebel Artists” advocates education as an extension of the aesthetics of performance, where teaching is an important form of behaviorism. This is an essential textbook for those who want to use performance to learn both challenges and change.
Guillermo Gómez-Peña is a Mexican post-performance artist, writer, activist and educator. He is the author of ten books and is the founder of San Francisco-based Art Collective Bra Pochano Stra.
