Media reported on Wednesday afternoon that an explosion and fire occurred in the city of Kabul.
Officials told Afghan local media that the explosion occurred in Kabul’s 15th district, in the area of Taimani 4th Avenue and 40 Meter Street of Airport Square.
Some Kabul residents said the explosion was caused by a rocket attack.
Sources in Kabul city claimed that the explosion occurred at the same time as a drone patrol over Kabul.
Hours later, the public relations department of Kabul’s emergency hospital announced that 40 people, including five dead, had been taken to hospital as a result of the explosion.
A hospital spokesperson also said in a statement that the dead and injured included women and children.
He added that 10 of the injured were in critical condition.
