Directed by Mohammadali Famouri, Tehran-Platform 101 is the only digital art team from Iran and West Asia participating in Japan’s Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai in the forecast mapping section.
Iran’s arts institution is attending an event featuring “Infinite Realms,” a projection mapping artwork at the iconic sparkling hat pavilion, the IRNA reported.
“Infinite Realms” is an innovative and integrated task of generative art, immersive sound and mapping technology. It explores the nature of the fractals of the universe and reveals patterns interconnected in parallel worlds. Through monochromatic visuals, it evokes an infinite dimension of existence and reflection.
The joint project directed by Mohammad Ali Famori was created by Arash Masoum (Generative Art), Ehsan Masoudian and Reza Famori (Music and Sound Design). It explores the iconic interpretation of fractal geometry in parallel universes, and the bridge between digital art and architecture.
“This marks the new horizon for Iranian artists to engage in international collaboration in the field of creative coding technology in the production of digital arts,” said Muhammad Ali Famori.
“Platform 101 is the only digital art team from Iran and West Asia out of 68 countries participating in the Projection Mapping Program at Expo 2025 Japan. It is considered the most advanced event for image production and exhibition in the field of digital arts.
The digital artist further said the platform is trying to achieve opportunities to display and represent Iranian digital art. “We hope to be part of this event to present the technology and systematic paths formed in Iran to create works of art,” he said.
Expo 2025 is a world exposition organized and sanctioned by the international DESExpositions (BIE) of the station held in Osaka, Japan.
It will start on April 13th and last for six months until October 13th. This is the second time Osaka has hosted the World Expo, where Expo 1970 was previously hosting. The expected number of visitors is approximately 28 million.
The themes of the exhibition are “designing a future society for our lives” with the sub-themes: “saving lives,” “giving the power of life,” and “connecting life.”
The Expo Hall “Shining Hat” is a symbol of the entire expo site, with its large, golden circular roof and strong rough walls rising from the earth. Projection mapping is held every night during the expo, using the walls of the expo hall as a screen.
