Tehran – The closing night of the 40th International Fajour Music Festival, held in Rudakijor, Tehran, held a special performance dedicated to renowned composer and pianist Javad Maloofy. In the evening, the piano performance was featured by Mohammadreza Amirgasemis.
Composer and pianist Amirgassemi presented a selection of lesser-known compositions by the late Maloofi, offering a unique experience for Iranian piano enthusiasts.
The well-known Iranian composer and pianist Javad Maroufi was born from a musical lineage. Born in Tehran, their father Musa Maloofy and mother Ozra Maloofy were both skilled students of Darvish Khan, a well-known Iranian musical figure. The life of a young Maloofi changed with the early loss of his mother and grew up within his paternal family.
His musical journey began under the guidance of his father, where he learned tar and the violin. At the age of 14, Maloofi registered with Ali Naki Vajiri’s Academy of Music. There, he hone his piano skills under the guidance of Tatiana Haratian and delved into the works of musical giants such as Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven and Bach. This rigorous training laid the foundation for his future achievements.
Maloofy’s legacy endures through his compositions that capture the depth and breadth of his musical vision. Among his most recognized works are “Zirah Fantasy,” works that evoke fantasy, “The Golden Dream,” compositions that suggest images of happiness and desire, and works that refer to important historical events of Iranians. There is “Ashura.” These compositions reflect his deep understanding of musical structure, emotional expression, and his deep roots within Iranian culture.
Maloofi passed away on December 7, 1993 at a hospital in Tehran, leaving behind a rich and enduring contribution to Iranian music.
The 40th International FAJR Music Festival was organized on behalf of the Arts Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Leadership, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the Iranian Music Association and the Music Bureau of Rudaki Foundation.
Showing and respecting the best works of Iranian musicians, promoting the art of music, strengthening audience preferences and listening culture, maintaining a national identity rooted in religious and Iranian teachings, especially the younger generations. It aims to support ideas and performance by. Identify and enhance the shapes and content quality of music in a variety of genres.
In addition to international participants, this year there will be 100 Iranian bands performed by over 1,400 musicians at the festival.
