TEHRAN – Farouk Toirov, Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), recognized Iran’s strategic position in regional food production and agricultural innovation.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 24th Tehran International Livestock, Poultry and Industry Exhibition, he expressed readiness to expand technical and professional cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in promoting sustainable agricultural development and food security.
He emphasized that FAO is active in all member countries and actively supports Iran’s agricultural priorities and national development goals.
“Our mission is to help improve the lives of people around the world and ensure food security for all. The Islamic Republic of Iran plays a special role in this global mission thanks to its diverse ecosystem, rich agricultural resources and strong potential for both fresh and salt water-based production,” he said.
Recognizing Iran’s strategic position in regional food production, Foreign Minister Toirov added, “God has endowed the Iranian people with fertile land and precious natural resources. With proper evaluation and scientific management, these assets can drive economic growth and improve the quality of life of communities across the country.”
He praised the achievements of Iran’s agricultural sector, noting that such progress would facilitate broader cooperation with the United Nations system. “Iran’s agricultural advances have made FAO’s work easier and more meaningful. We can build on these successful experiences and share them with other countries that can benefit from Iran’s technological expertise and innovation.”
Mr. Toirov also emphasized the active role of the private sector in Iran’s agricultural development, saying it is a key factor in increasing productivity and promoting innovation. “A strong public-private presence creates a solid foundation for deeper cooperation. Together, we can develop a roadmap for the future that supports sustainable agriculture and secures better food for all.”
Reaffirming FAO’s commitment, the FAO representative concluded that “FAO stands ready to continue its close cooperation with Iran’s agricultural sector, promoting the exchange of knowledge, technology and best practices that contribute to national and international food security and sustainable development.”
