Mohammad Reza Farzin, who traveled to China to participate in the governor’s meetings of central banks of eco-member countries, said that exploring ways to increase financial banking cooperation between the organisation’s member states and avenues for holding two-sided meetings with counterparts has been cited as the main purpose of his visit.
The establishment of a common, comprehensive bank that can carry out some of the financial and banking transactions between the organisation’s member states is on the agenda of the meeting, he emphasized.
The CBI Governor described the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as a key regional organization, saying that 10 countries, including major economies such as China, India and Russia, are members of the organization, accounting for 45% of the world’s population and have a very high share of the world economy.
He emphasized that the creation of infrastructure for establishing joint banks between Iran and the SCO member states and carrying out financial transactions was highlighted among two key topics followed up at the meeting.
The Iranian Central Bank governor left Tehran for Beijing, China’s capital, on Sunday, attended a meeting of central bank governors of the Shanghai Cooperation Agency member countries, meeting and discussing bystanders of the meeting.
Farjin recently went to Oman and developed a financial relationship with the bank between Tehran and Muscat.
