TEHRAN – In a statement issued Sunday through the Public Relations Division of Iranian Film Group (COI), highly acclaimed Russian filmmaker Nikita Mikharkov condemned the atrocities of the Israeli regime during a 12-day war with Iranian soil.
Speaking to Iranian filmmakers, the Oscar-winning artist and director expressed his solidarity by saying, “My dear friend, colleague, Iranian filmmaker! First and foremost, Iranian film – this great film – I expressed my solidarity by expressing my deep respect for Iran’s rich and majestic culture.
I express my sincere sadness as I face brutal and unjust attacks by Israel, which aimed to conquer the Iranian state, Iranian culture, and the whole of Iran. In my view, such ambitions are impossible and should never be realized.
Once again, invite us to join us at the Eurasian Cinema Academy, which we organized, to stand up to Hollywood’s rule. We must unite. I await you with a pure heart and open arms through your films, your presence on the festival’s red carpet, the Eurasian Cinema Academy’s Diamond Butterfly Awards. ”
Mikharkov is famous for his 1994 film Burnt by the Sun.
