In recent years, Saba Steel and Rolling Mill Company has been pursuing high value-added products. In collaboration with the goals of the Mobarakeh Steel Company Group (particularly to increase customer satisfaction and expand high value delivery), Saba is actively developing its product portfolio.
Qasem Khoshdelpour, CEO of Saba Steel and Rolling Mill, highlighted this commitment, saying:
“With support for MSC Group Management and the efforts of our colleagues at SABA, we have successfully created and created the design and production of another high strength hot roll automotive steel grade (HAS60), equivalent to the ATOS60, and added it to our product basket.”
He also tunes production quality based on the application used to improve customer satisfaction as well as promote close collaboration with clients, resulting in products tailored to precise requirements.
According to Khoshdelpour, local expertise, technical know-how and spirit of teamwork have been able to pursue competitive iron products worldwide. He congratulated MSC Group, business partners and all stakeholders on achieving this milestone. This is the first domestic production of this steel grade in Iran.
Operational perspective:
“Along with quantity, we have focused on improving quality and developing innovative products of high value,” commented Bahman Khalili, Chief Operating Officer of Saba Steel and Rolling Mill.
He explained that detailed production planning and consistent support for the production line created the foundation for product innovation within the company.
Production of new steel grades, especially for the automotive industry, requires special measures at each stage of steel manufacturing, casting, rolling, and thorough risk assessments to minimize production challenges.
He added: “By identifying the issue and holding multiple technical sessions, we have successfully produced results comparable to the grades created by leading global steel manufacturers.”
The HAS60 grade (expandedly known as the ATOS60) is used in the manufacture of heavy vehicles. Its production marks another step in strengthening SABA’s product range and meeting local demand for imported functional steel.
Khalili expressed her gratitude for the dedication of her colleagues and expressed her hope that Saba Steel will continue to implement even more advanced products with higher value added.
Technology Focus:
Arash Hajipour, technology director at Saba Steel and Rolling Mill, highlighted the company’s strategic direction. “Focusing on modern equipment, high technical capabilities and high yield expertise grades, SABA aims to produce steel that promotes public welfare, safety and environmental protection while reducing import reliance on its products.”
He emphasized that the automotive industry’s important role in everyday life has long been an important partner in Saba Steel.
Reducing emissions, protecting the environment, and improving safety are at the heart of modern automobile designs, and these goals can only be achieved by replacing outdated steel with a new generation of grades.
Producing high-strength automotive steels like HAS60 not only saves foreign currency, but also simplifies logistics, speeds up local supply, enhances technical support, and promotes synergies across the value chain.
He added: “The most notable feature of the ATOS60 is its high strength-to-weight ratio that contributes to vehicle muscle loss, increased fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.”
This breakthrough achieved with domestic knowledge and dedication reflects the strategic capabilities of mackerel steel. Hajipour concluded with an extended congratulations to all employees, stakeholders and business partners on this valuable achievement.
